It's always a good day when I get to Maiden or just fly in general an Airplane but today I am maidening a new Plane for me the Viper 70 millimeter 15-year anniversary EDF with flaps and Retracts it's a great looking jet in my Opinion I like it Abby says don't start The video by talking about Michigan Colors and WVU but that's what it makes Me think of it's like a WVU jet I mean That's what it looks like to me but I'm Not a huge sports fan I'm an aviation Fan you don't know what you're talking About I'm an RC foam fan baby we could Talk about that all day long Sports I'll Watch some sports while we talk about Planes we're going to Maiden this today I'm really excited to put it in the air It was fairly easy to assemble got Everything plugged into a tactic Receiver so I'm flying on tactic today That's a lot of spaghetti in there That's a lot of spaghetti in there and It looked even worse when I was actually Assembling it but honestly it went Together nice and smooth and easy There's no glue holding this together It's all bolts and I think they did a Really good job six volts hold the main Wing on and even the horizontal Stabilizer has two of its own bolts and The vertical stabilizer has three of its Own bolts it was a very nice clean Assembly and I think the main thing they
Focused on when they made this V2 of Their 70 millimeter is more robust Landing gear with actual functioning Shocks I love the articulation in the Rear and then the front nose wheel Actually has tons of articulation it Feels like the right amount of Resistance on that so knowing that they Made improvements where everyone said They need to make improvements means a Lot to me so I'm excited to fly this it Should be a good experience so let's put It in the air and see how it does Bob We'll maybe go half lapse on the takeoff Taxi is nice and straight oh and it Sounds good a 70 millimeter EDF just Sounds good I'm excited for this that's Hands-free I usually have to really Heavily steer my planes down the runway But this one this one's taxiing really Well Ready Abby ready let's go A little bit of turn there I'm gonna Have to trim that up take that flap out And then we'll put the retracts up on This pass that could have just been wind Oh yeah I got a I got some trim to hit Up here That's okay retracts are gonna go up [Music] You know what I didn't really need to Actually trim much uh this is a receiver Pulled from another airplane so
That's really I think what was happening This needed to trim up because I yanked It from another airplane so let's Just kind of feel for it you guys made In Flight no safe for flight Stabilization so let's just rolling oh Yeah that roll rate's nice I have 20 Expo on my ailerons and 30 on The elevator we're going to climb it and Snap it up here because why not Oh yeah nice snap now this means I'll Have to recover from this snap Completely on my own With no flight stabilization switch some Guys think there's a few of you out There the thing and I'm not I could Crash right I could crash any any minute Some guys think I only know how to fly With safe I think having safe and that Kind of technology and you know FMS has Their own version of safe I think those Things are nice to fall back on if you Need it But I do know how to fly out of it Generally speaking I think the people That aren't fans of it are the ones that Didn't have it not always when they Learn so if they learned without it why By golly nobody should have it right No that's not the case it's a nice thing Technology can help people get in the Air more people enjoy the hobby that way What a beautiful flying 70 millimeter Viper jet loving it really
Loving it it is Snappy See if we can let's see what kind of Rudder Authority we have here Not a ton just trying to do a little bit Of hammerhead but didn't quite happen That's okay Loving the rolls feeling pretty Confident with the rolls getting lower To the ground on each one I'm probably Going to keep this flight time somewhere Around four and a half minutes or so Lesson learned from my last I was literally watching the time this This time even though you didn't tell me To I remember to pull around here I Haven't flown a 70 millimeter uh jet in Quite a while so this is just really Making me pretty happy And I haven't done a silent pass yet Silent pass is where I am silent and the Jet is allowed to scream so let's try That [Applause] On the runway like that You're at three minutes I'll bet you this one could do spaceship Node so let's bring it in my most Comfortable Direction ease off on the Juice just a little bit I'll show you Guys spaceship You haven't done a loop yet either I did Oh you did where was I Here we go spaceship Full flaps right
It's harder to see at that angle but Full flaps there you go that angle looks Pretty good they just dropped down to Almost vertical and it just looks cool It looks like some thrusters underneath The jet allowing it to hover It's pretty cool [Music] It's a great flying jet you like 70 Millimeter you could see up with flight Stabilization if you wanted to FMS has I Think it's called Vector I'm pretty sure That's the name of there that could be Wrong Um But I'm just flying pure to that reflex That's it reflex yeah you got it you're At four minutes okay well you know what Let's just pour it a little bit safe Drop the landing gear now I see all Three they're dumb and I like that at Full flap so we're going to come out of This Bank And hit half flat full flaps here And just ease off on the juice still at About a quarter throttle or so just Wanted to come a little closer to us Level off now play with throttle to get It closer and we'll set it down ah not Too bad considering we have a cross wind Not bad at all that breeze that we're Feeling Abby like seven miles an hour is On our face so what you guys saw that Right wing lift off just a little bit
That was because of that crosswind so Not a bad landing considering had a Little gust of that And uh oh yeah good looking 70 Millimeter look at this look at my flaps Literally almost 90 degrees down I call That spaceship mode some guys don't want To throw them down that far I like it it Stays airborne and I don't have any Elevator mix in with those flaps and it Did not climb it didn't balloon at all Oh yeah that was good Maiden flight it's Recommended to fly on a 6S 3200 milliamp Or 4000 milliamp battery and I have a 4 000 in there now the CG felt great Almost snug up against the nose and Honestly about 4 000 it's a little tight This little balloon part of the bottom Of the canopy when I put it on you know That battery's rubbing I actually have To bend my foam just a little bit and I've got a bit of a gap here you can see It So it's not a perfect seal I'd say 3200 Is going to fit in better but the 4000 Is good too I don't think that's going To go anywhere that's a nice tight seal Uh the push rods are not installed when You buy this you have to install all of Them there's actually two servos for That elevator which is really nice and I Love the ball link push rods or the Connectors for the push rod I should say The downside is when you get it these
Are all the same length and so that's a Positive when you're assembling it your Ailerons your flaps they're all the same Length all over the whole airplane but That means you have to make some Adjustments so you're going to install Your push rods power it on let your Servos go to Center unless you have a Servo tester and then realize that this Angle runs off that flaps down this flap Is up that aileron is wonky this Elevator is up that elevator is down and This router is over just half a turn Welcome to the airplane world that's it You gotta pop them all off which is my Least favorite thing to do with these Ball joint things by the way does anyone Is there a tool is there a special tool That's not a pocket knife or needle nose Pliers designed to pop this off please Tell me because I need to buy that so it Just hurts my fingertips and if we find It we'll link it in the description box Below but as of right now I'm clueless And I just have sore fingertips You poor thing well you know oh one pop Off Your life must be so hard oh those Fingertips that was a great maiden and a Little bit of wind I knew my own ability Because I've flown similar planes but we Got some wind that windsock is totally Tread it's not a good ending looks like No wind to be made
