How to make Car Carpet and Mats – Scale Modelling

Welcome to Scale_Modelling_Videos. Today's video is about how to make car carpet. You can see it here. Let's focus on this. Nice textured carpet there. I will also show you how to make car mats. Two different techniques. You can see here, you get a very nice carpet effect and nice mats there as well. I am going to show you how to do that,
starting now. The tools we are going to need for this are a sifter. Some people call it a strainer you
can get much smaller ones than this as well. This is the one i have. Fine sawdust type material. I use
flour. Preferably you should use flocking. I don't have any flocking at the moment. You can also use sawdust. It would be best to use sawdust or flocking. Some fine suede leather pieces. Ones with a fabric feel. I get these from linen stores or arts and crafts stores as well. A pen or a pencil. PVA glue. A thick brush with a thick flat head. Slow drying enamel paint ,the only one I
know of is Humbrol.

I am not going to recommend anything else (other than Humbrol). If you' are going to use another paint
make sure it's slow drying and it's sticky, You can choose the color you want your carpet to be as well. I generally use some Humbrol Matte 32 Dark Gray. Thick masking tape. This is Tamiya 40 millimetre masking tape and scissors. You will also need some super glue and an earbud with a pointy end preferably, Let's get started. Before you start, you want to ensure that the areas you do not want to have carpet on are completely masked off . Once that is done you then paint on a thick coat of the Humbrol paint using a flat brush. You should paint only those areas you want to carpet. Now while the paint is wet you want to
apply your flocking / flour / sawdust. Using the sifter as you're seeing here.
I am going to let the video explain this part. Leave this for one hour. Leave this to dry for an entire day. Here's the car carpet, as you can see you
have a very nice colored textured effect.

Next, we are going to create the car mats.
the first thing we need to do is create a template. A masking template using Tamiya 40 millimetre masking tape. I will let the video explain the entire process. Here is the car mat all finished. Here is what it looks like on the car body. With the carpet on the floor I am now
going to use the same method again. To make small mats for the floor. First thing I am going to do is use
masking tape again. I am going to use the car body to measure out the size of the mats. Like I said before I am going to
let the video explain the entire process. Using the same method I am now going to make two more mats for the rear seats. Here is the car interior with the carpet
and the floor mats. I hope you guys liked the video. Please give the video a like and please subscribe to my channel..
