So can a person go from flying foam to Learning to fly something like this That's what we're going to try to learn In today's video it's been a lifelong Dream of mine to get into Aviation way More than just flying foam we kind of Gave a little bit of a teaser in our 500,000 subscriber celebration video I Seriously look forward to tomorrow and The day after that and I hope you guys Are ready to go along and join the fun With us because uh I'm ready for it and 500k isn't so much a look back at all The fun we've had in the past but it's Almost a window into the future of what Else what else are we going to get into And I I can't wait I grew up loving Aviation from playing video games and Flying simulators and then getting into RC stuff when I could finally afford it Mowing grass to uh fuel my hobby and Yeah we' we've spent 10 years on YouTube Flying foam for you guys and just Celebrating RC Aviation and Abby finally Thought it was time for me to get my Feet wet in the full scale world and Honestly it came at a very funny time It's because my flight instructor that I Knew I'd like to learn to fly from who Has had four engine outs in his career He's a commercial pilot he gives air Tours a fantastic person that I spent Some time with growing up because my Best friend growing up uh this is his

Dad so what better person to learn to Fly from and we found out that he'd be Retiring this spring so Abby realized if My husband is going to learn how to fly A plane it's going to be from someone I Know and trust and so we decided to pull The trigger really not knowing anything About fulls scale Aviation other than Probably what most RC Pilots know and I Know that there's a lot of people that Fly arec's that have a passion for full Scale they're curious about it they've Always wanted to I I talked to a lot of People actually in the last few months Especially that have voiced an interest In full scale and so I thought we need To document this we have to document This and share our experience with Anybody willing to watch this is going To be very different than our usual RC Content a lot of you guys know we used To have a vlog Channel we used to Vlog More of our life and stuff but I wanted To kind of vlog vog this experience and Share it with you but because we're Going into it so fast and so head over Heels and a little bit unprepared we're Just using the equipment that we had Readily available so on our first flight Where I get to get in the airplane with The pilot and I'm actually sitting in The Pilot's seat I just brought the two GoPros that I had and threw them in a Quick spot to see how it would go and

That's what you guys are about to Witness and experience now I want to Also establish the fact that this was Was recorded about 3 months Ago this was before aby's gallbladder Issues and various other factors that Have hit us but my reasoning for this Was because I don't like to share things That I could fail at in life I wanted to Get my full pilot's license before I Shared any of this with you guys and I've had a lot of things to think about Over the last few months and I've Realized I think we should share this Experience whether I pass or fail or any Other factors come into play because That's what we do in the RC world that's What we do on our Channel if an airplane Is sent to us for free or we buy it with Our money and it crashes and fails Whether it was my fault or the plan's Fault we share that experience with you Guys we don't hide anything and so why Hide anything with the full scale Experience too maybe it'll be too hard For me I don't know but I will tell you It's been a really fun experience so far And definitely one worth sharing so We're going to cut into what we recorded On the GoPros and some of the Conversations I had some of it might be A little bit dry to some people but if You have a curiosity in the full scale Aviation world then I think you'll

Really enjoy what we go over in this Experience so without further Ado let's Cut right into my very first flight with Hands on the controls in a full scale Airplane let's go okay now we're going To follow the uh checklist seat Bel You want them just snug but not and you Want to be able to get a full push with Your rder pedals now if you want it Correctly actually they say you say you Put your heel down there and push Forward and get a full thing okay I'm I'm far I'm too far back yeah I'm Surprised you want to cramp your legs Yeah okay now when you're flying you Just let them rest against the pedals or If I'm just going straight in level I Let my you know if I'm going to floor I Just let my feet relax on so is it okay If I if I get a feel for what you're Doing oh when I we got dual everything Yes put both feet up and you'll feel the Brakes oh yeah okay that's right yeah And you just even right there just push Them a little bit and that's that's Stopping you can slide the wheels if you Push too hard okay the clock really Halfway Works times and halfway doesn't So don't trust that this is a vacuum Here it says checked vacuum uh that's Going going through a little hole up Here it runs a little thing inside of Another instrument that spins around Like a you know air thing on a barn or

Something pick up little cups of air and Spin around that'll run uh this Instrument here you have to have vacuum To run that and a vacuum to run this Okay that's the only two it needs a Vacuum to pull through the instrument Through a little cups that'll spin it up To about 10,000 RPMs and that makes it's A gyro a gyro in this one maybe onic Switch off how to be this one here that Doesn't come on until after we start the End fuel on both which it is carb heat Cold that's this I'll pull it out you Push it in just to make sure that's if It was out it was on so if it's out it's On is off yeah mix you're rich right Here push in it's a push pull button Just push in on it goes clear in and That's the now let me show if you want To adjust it just turn it like this a Little bit turn a little more go ahead This is your fuel mix fuel mixer now for Takeoff we leave it there now if you Want to come backwards see it won't come Backwards until you push on the button And make a real fine adjustment later on See the higher we go the less oxygen so We have to have less fuel okay for to Run right but for takeoff it's full in Okay master switch on which that's a Rock hit both of them these guys okay Prime as needed don't need a well we Already kind of primed early hot weather Really don't need to prime it at all

Throttle cracked I just leave it at idle What does cracked mean just maybe run in A quar but I I started at idle propop Area clear yeah brakes on so you Actually hold the brakes just slightly Hold ignition switch both just like Starting the car uh right here I see Yeah now keep your left hand over here To start it uh okay and your hand on the Throttle we're just going to leave it Idle though and yell clear Prop okay and ready yeah and kick it on Now yeah we got hey you got the master Okay go ahead so we're going to start The engine okay here's where the Engine's going to fire up and it gets a Little bit harder to hear but as I said We were just kind of running and gunning We put the GoPros in the airplane so you Can actually still hear us it just gets A little bit harder to hear over the Awesome Rumble of the engine Yeah now here's your oil pressure it's a Little slow like old people you might Give it just a little bit of gas here Okay you're holding the brakes yeah I'm Holding it now see the oil pressure Coming up yes it takes a while for the Heat to get over here Okay AV onic switch on yeah that's That's this one now yes thanks see all This way up down here Okay radio's on chat they're already on That's all that this 1228 1222 already

A weather half lights if required I just Leave them on over Circuit breaker is Checked looks Fine instruments set normally another Airplane you have to set hitting Indicator see it's going around to North That's slow to get over here see this Had all kinds of numbers up here when he Took that out all these numbers went to Zero it could be fixed but that's like Fixing a radio car radio from 1955 I Mean it might word but I got a tablet Home I hook into centry kind of replaces That right Uh circuit instrument set flaps up which They are right here yeah you want to Push it down make sure they go Down okay now see these little notches Yes you let it come up to here see it That little Notch it'll stop that's Really cool raise it up to 10 there's 10 See what 10° look like it went all the Way up on its Own yeah Harry it it went up on its own I should have stopped see now there's 10° Okay Okay and brakes check operation why go Forward just a little bit now touch him Go ahead stop stop can I try that Yeah so you get used to no okay stop it This does nothing until CU we're on the Ground so it's it's just Rudder right

Yeah well this is the brakes and rud you Want to turn hard just push It try to stay off the brakes okay now Let me show you you can turn around it Real quick want to gas go with me hit The right brake uhhuh real hard so You're doing right brake and right Rudder yeah right rder right right see Yeah you want to make a big circle you Got to turn that's easier on the brake b Okay now I turn see how sh you park it Like supposed to follow the yellow line Now lay that in your lap there Follow The yellow line we're going to back 19 Runway 27 that's our wind team it's kind Of out the Southwest okay A little bit Of right Just bright Rudder not act break okay And if we needed to slow down we would Pull back on this a little we throttle Back yeah yeah yeah well we don't want To kill it though now if you actually Had a little headwind here it would come To a stop Bas we going to kill it no It's it'll set it okay your idle runs Nice and smooth yeah you just keep your Hand on it now here's what I do if I Want to push it in just a qu of an inch I put my finger out here see a/ quar Inch uh-huh yeah okay without guessing Okay now if I wanted just to build up a Little bit maybe an eighth of an inch See that just a guide yes and of course We take off as full okay we'll get back

On the center a good pilot always goes Down the center of the runway Okay and I forgot to say but we'd look All Direction make one big circle which We did back there and look out see if There's anybody in the traffic out Downwind will be over here Runway 27 Base fin Okay keep hand on TR Always while toxine yeah yeah basically All the time even during uh take off and When you level off the you relax this is Just so I can be adjusting constantly Yeah now we're going to stay on the left Side here I got a little way I do this I'm just feeling obviously you're doing I'm going to go back TI here a little Bit I want to get back in this hole here And keep my wings off as far as I can Off the center of the runway okay now You're supposed to turn in Wind well we Just started the engine I want it to Heat up okay see the oil I didn't moved Yet now why do I do this as I'm running My checklist I can look over here read a Couple sent see if anybody's on base and Final I'm already looking here ahead of Time yeah okay okay let's get down Through here um now right here we'll Throttle up and do a little bit of like The mag test and this is really right Before take off your pre-flight test Everything here is very important with Throttle yes with throttle and you're

Holding the brake yeah you can hold the Brakes too okay I'm not I'm not used to it yet that's All right I got Double two lines past 15 there you go now lock the throttle so It don't Slip yeah this little wheel right here Just snug it there you Go now it says uh we going to turn it to Uh check the magnet here go to Uh like this See it dropped a little bit it's running On one blug now back to both that cleans The plugs off two clicks there's two Clicks drop about the Same okay we did all That check our suction like this one That runs uh this instrument uh one Right here car heat pull this out we Just watch it off as heat goes in there I Prov we got heat the needle drop bit See back in now watch go back up a Little bit Yeah okay throttle back to 1 Th RPM you do it either put your index Thing and pull back slowly or you just Pull back like This and want to come back kind of slow Not take all day there rough see it go Up and then down Yes now look over there that should be Up see it yes and should be down that One should be up see it there has been Mechanics put them on backwards wow

That's why we checked that okay it Off okay the reason I do this so I can See anybody coming down with base final But we're going to make a big turn so Put your hand on the throttle Okay make a big Turn somebody coming down way over there You need these trees cut down when they Build for none of these trees so you're Doing a full circle just yeah a big Circle and there would be down if Somebody's coming in the other way and Use Runway KN that's just in case and Should everyone always do that yes every Time well when you uh at a stop sign Don't you look both directions you go Across okay now because I have a load of People I come around that big circuit Here I keep moving I give a Full you don't have to do that but I got A load people I'm going to use all the Way I get so Now it's going to be hard to hear Anything that we're saying now with the Engine up and just because I don't have Any audio going into the headset but Here on takeoff and what an amazing Feeling you can see Harry's Hands are Not really on the controls but he's Ready to grab them if he needs to and He's letting me do a majority of the Climb out but also his hand remains on The side of the control contr so he can Feel what I'm trying to do he's also

Letting me feel stall Tendencies really Early on Harry's a bit of a showman and Will perform at air shows and stuff even In this airplane so he knows the Airplane extremely well he loves the Airplane and relies on it for his entire Income but he's a great teacher too and So he's kind of teaching me like the Extremities of what the capable the Airplane is capable of while letting me Get a feel for it and I think that's Important it's not he's not just baby Stepping me way into it He's kind of showing me the extreme of It but we're climbing out and you know He's following all the right guidelines And stuff too in the whole process a Little bit Overwhelming but super fun adrenaline Was pumping and but also just trying to Take it very seriously and soak it up Like a sponge SHO Right here he's showing me basically you Can the plane will fly itself if you Have the trim tab set and he's showing Me we can lean forward and get the Airplane to actually drop down and if we Lean back we can get the airplane to Climb so he's showing me how important Weight and weight distribution in a Fulls scale airplane is it sign ific L Affects how the airplane flies you Really have to pay attention to how much Weight you're putting in your airplane

Before you go Fly it's kind of fun getting a feel for Turning and banking the air plane Knowing that a 10° turn how slow and Easy that is and even banking all the Way up to like a 35° turn how how Different that feels um but for me I Don't know why but like a 40° Bank felt Pretty natural probably too many video Games a lot of the time in the airplane Was teaching me what all of the dials do Everything on my display it looks really Overwhelming but there's really like six That are the most important things you Focus on and really when it comes down To it air speed and altitude are kind of The main Ones I think turn around right Here Wouldn't turn Any now I'm got to go over Here Harry wanted to show me what it Would be like if we had a simulated Engine out and we got down pretty low Over a farm area that he was familiar With and that's what he showed me right Here there's the stall Horn and we really got down there but it Was healthy to see that on a first Flight remember this guy has had four Engine outs and he and his airplanes Have walked away from all of Those there we throttled

Up and I think that's where he let me Climb out of This After a handful of additional Maneuvers We started navigating back toward the Airport got everything lined up for a Smooth Landing I got to spend a lot of time With my hands on the controls of that Airplane it really gave me a good feel For whether or not I wanted to keep Working on This So here we go with the landing he's Teaching me about carb heat fuel Mixture we're going to Throttle Down make our Final Approach here was Really interesting it's a pretty good Shot and honestly an amazing First Flight experience it it it taught me a Lot got a really good feel for the Airplane Harry is a huge advocate for Grass Landings too I forgot that this One was actually a grass Landing Yeah very Cool so guys this was a really cool Experience that I had and I am really Happy I got to share it with you Hopefully you guys thought it was pretty Cool had some fun maybe learned Something as well as usual in and I'm Glad I have the opportunity to thank God I want to say a massive thanks to God For blessing me with the opportunity to

Get out and do this and and also to have The time to share this experience with You guys as well also a huge thanks to Our patreon supporters and to my wife Because uh without you guys I wouldn't Have had the opportunity to jump out Here and and do This hopefully we'll have more more of These experiences to share on the Channel as long as people enjoyed It I'll be happy to share more of my Experiences I think it's really fun it's Really cool that I have this chance to Do Thisas turn Off push and pull Back push and pull back we never turn Off for the magaz push and pull back That's squishing on this that'll the Engine now as you come across you leave That out come Across and you always want the avionics Off before we turn it off now the mag Switch clear Left and Master's Off there you go now I got a little Light bulb here I got to put in here but When the batter's on that little place Will right up okay now once the Generator alternator comes on it's Alterator it'll go off and here's your Amp meter I see uh the older cars had Amp meters in it now you for turnning This on your gas gauges will come up too

See and as Abby would say thanks for Watching we'll see you in the next video Bye
