We're going today from something tried And true to something new and very Exciting that they've decided to keep The Viper 70 millimeter in the lineup Because recently we noticed that they Discontinued this one on the website my Guess is they sold out about two weeks Ago and just had to discontinue it well It's back and it's better than ever a Few small upgrades but it's enough to Get excited about and that's what we're Going to do in today's video talk about The upgrades Maiden this plane and see If it is actually at least just as good As the original but probably better There's actually been three iterations Of the 70 millimeter that's the first no Telemetry it's my baby with over 200 Flights on it they came out with version Two and I'll be honest with you it's Just as good but I only have learned it Maybe five times because I like my baby Sometimes I get jealous yeah That other one you don't even call me Baby sometimes that other one has Telemetry the upgraded version this one Also has Telemetry but let's talk about The new and improved features first and Foremost is the motor we do have a Larger motor with a higher KV This is going to give us more thrust and Speed but shorter flight times if we Don't have proper throttle management so Remember that because we're running on
The same battery a 6S 3200 of course we Have retracts and if there was one Complaint from the original to this one It was the landing gear now I will be Honest with you my landing gear did not Get beat up bent up tore up at all but I Will say when I'm flying every now and Then I pop up the landing gear and maybe Only two decide to go up at random no Explanation as to why and I can just Play with that switch and they'll all go Up eventually and then maybe they'll all Come down kind of scary now we have the More robust landing gear which is very Exciting and we have the articulation in The shock absorbing struts on the wheels Even the front wheel has that as well it Folds back like this let's look at the Version one oh yeah they're just a Little sticks that's it we're going from Wires to actual Functioning Boom yeah check that out crazy right it Is crazy We also have a softer composite on our Tires so that's going to really improve Our Landings especially for those of us That fly on asphalt and finally not just The collar but we have thrust reversing In this EDF as well uh on a final note We're gonna maintenance we're having Some fun today guys we're just gonna Kick back and have a good time we love The 70 millimeter EDF but check this out
We've got some workers on the runway Today we have been told we'll see we've Been told they're taking soil samples And asphalt samples to see if it's going To be possible to repave this so that's The first initial steps that's going to Be good long term if we do that short Term if this gets tore up we may not be Able to fly here for a while so we're Out to contact some other places to fly I think we'll see how this goes but Today let's focus on the fun and get This in the air remember thrust Reversing is included in this but I Didn't know that because it wasn't Printed in the instructions I don't have That programmed into the radio today Other than that we've got our flaps Everything else is functioning fine so Let's put it in here and have some fun Foreign Do you think they're ever going to make A new man a new pilot Overall it's always the same guy maybe a Woman would be good I don't even it's Not I just want him to look a little bit Different give them some different eyes Or eyebrows or something maybe a red Shirt yeah there you go I think I know what people are going to Say and think you know hey it's another Viper but it's fine when we have in my Opinion taking the best of the best and Making an actual Improvement when you
Discontinue the old version but things Are still interchangeable this type of Upgrade is welcome in my opinion so we Have a very improved Viper I know the Biggest complaint was that landing gear And now we've got improved landing gear So this is a good thing [Applause] Well uh get our flaps up And we'll get the landing gear on this Pass got a little win we're dealing with Today Linear landing gear up very nice Just on that moon right So I generally own a maiden especially Will keep safe on especially flying this Low The end and wind so we're in safe right Now the safe's going to get kicked off In a minute don't you worry just like a Lot of people see how it flies in safe It's very nice and docile and gentle and Viper-esque you know the Viper is one of The best RC edfs a person should ever Really get stick time on okay here we're Going to climb So what we're going to do is go out here Abby love that Wing off and climb Straight up rolling it I got 100 C in here and we have Unlimited verticality that's amazing Wow wow wow wow Viper 70 millimeter a good bit on the 90 And I can just say it is one of the best
Edfs that exists [Music] Um A10 flies on Rails this one's just very Well rounded it's very Beginner friendly but I want to say more Intermediate friendly I wouldn't say There should ever be a person's first CDF but there's a lot of learning that Can happen on the CDF We're going to do spaceship mode on the Next pass right to left just a nice Little show pass here So we're definitely dealing with some Gusty winds oh yeah a little scared to Fly too close See those flaps drop vertical straight Down I call that spaceship mode just Because it looks like a spaceship coming In for a crazy Landing look at those Flaps oh it's awesome always looks so Good on the Viper we might be able to Pull off a smooth touch and go but it is A cross when you're at two and a half Minutes yeah we won't we won't push this Battery too far because it's a 3200 Milliamp All right so we're gonna kick that Landing gear down One two three Nope and we bounce you know what we're Just gonna go around again a bounce and Go nothing to be ashamed you really just Want to get a nice smooth touch and go
To see if that landing gear is doing What it's supposed to now it's more Robust I don't think it's too stiff but You got those softer tires and that Should help smoothen this out some but You guys see the wind I'm fighting There we go look at that that was nice And smooth there's so you're getting Small enough and that's great three Minutes Okay we'll uh we'll kick it down at the End of the runway You know what on this pass we're gonna Do a nice clean Loop out here on the Back end Just because we need to get a nice loop On it around that cloud it's a little High but Yeah everything about this is just Viper Through and through Landing gear down we'll land at half Flaps to really slow it down this time And uh what a good Maiden yeah let's Let's put the landing gear through its Paces here now the original Viper guys I Flew and and took off from a grass field A lot I was very hard on it and I just Must have got really lucky that mine Held up as well as it did for as fast as I came in that's not bad that's not bad The crosswind is okay man Strong today Um I was hard on that landing gear but It held up mostly now we've got more
Robust landing gear thrust reversing if We need it we'll reverse the thrust The new paint scheme looks really nice And a higher KV brushless motor giving Us more power on a basically existing Already amazing EDF just brought up to Par it's now up to Snuff with everything Else on the market and it's a welcome Thing in the lineup 3200 milliamp Battery Is what's recommended and that's Basically all that's going to fit in There and I think we put about a three And a half minute Maiden flight on that We can probably push a little further But it's a maiden and I've been known to Push those EDF betas a little too far A Little too fast and knowing we've got a Higher torque motor in there higher KV Means shorter flight times if I'm Playing around with a Full Throttle it's Going to draw more you need at least a 50c battery in there don't push a 30C You could put a 30C in if you know You're just going to putts but if you Want to open it up and fly it like a Real EDF then you need 50c I'm pushing 100 C in here today but you know it Helps me fight through those gusts of Wind and it felt good I actually like The orange I think on the ground I like The blue more but in the air I like the Orange more it just it pops in the blue Sky it's it's definitely better for
