In today's video I am going to show you
how to polish a car hood. Using Tamiya's polishing compound. You can see: The unpolished hood on the left and the
polished hood on the right. In order to do this we need Tamiya's polishing compounds. You need three of them. You need Tamiya's polishing compound course. This is the first one I am going to apply which is this one here. Then you need Tamiya's polishing compound fine which is the blue one. This is the second one I will apply and then you need Tamiya polishing compound finish. This is a silver one. This will be the last one I will apply. The first polishing compound I am
going to apply is the Tamiya polishing_compound_course. I like to apply it using an earbud.
As you can see here. I apply equal amounts on both sides of the hood. Then with a circular motion using the same end I used to apply the polish, I start moving the earbud in a circular motion. As you see here. I am going to show you the video in real time for the first application. For the next step I will speed up the video. Because the next step is the same process with a different compound. Something I would like to clarify
is this model has been painted with a lacquer paint. It has been gloss coated with Pledge_Floor_Care. I have then left it to dry for two days before I start doing anything with it.
My point is, make sure that you have sealed your model with a proper gloss coat. And also that you have let the gloss coat properly dry. Usually waiting for 2-3 days. After I have cleaned the polish I like to
use a paper towel to clean off any excess. To make sure it's clean. Next, I will now apply Tamiya's
polishing_compound_fine. I am going to do it the same process again, I am now just going to speed this up. Lastly, I am going to apply Tamiya's
polishing_compound_finish, The same way I applied the previous two
compounds.
After this one you are going to see quite
a lot of shine. As you will see. For the last step in the process, I
like to use a microfiber cloth to polish the compound. You can still do it with a paper towel if you wish, However I just think that with a microfibre cloth you get good results. Once this is done, you can choose to finish it here. Because you will have a decent shine. However, I just like to go over the
entire process one more time. So I will apply the Polishing_compound_course again, followed by Polishing_compound_fine. Followed by Polishing_compound_finish. i'm just going to show you that in X8 speed because you have already seen it. Let's have a look at it after one final clean. Nice and shiny..
