McLaren MCL35M. This is actually a complete slogan. This is actually one of the most colorful cars on the grid. In fact, the 2020 predecessor is very similar to this car. There are also some changes around the livery, but not much. LANDO NORRIS is actually doing well in 2021, finishing 6th in the 2021 World Championships. And he actually got on the podium a few times, Emilia Romagna in Italy. Monaco, Austria and Monza, I believe it was his four podiums that year. But this is actually a special model, from a specific race, which is from Emilia-Romagna. He finished third there. Before we start, this video is actually sponsored, this time by a different company, the MODELCARS house. They even sent a nice little card saying "thank you for your order". So, HOUSE OF MODELCARS is actually an online shop and it is located in the Netherlands. They have a really beautiful website and I really like the 360 video feature of their websi e. There, you can show the car in a 360-degree view, which is great. You can glimpse all the details of the car.
I got this model from them, so thanks again to HOUSE OF MODELCARS. And, uh… I'll be sure to put the link in the description so you can check them out too. I'm a little skeptical about the relationship between Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris. But I think LANDO NORRIS is a little more iconic at McLaren than DANIEL RICCIARDO. So ah, without further ado, let's unpack this thing. Again, SPARK 1/18 scale, you know it's going to be good. So, let's open this bad boy and see what's in there, shall we? [ASMR voice] Um…
Well. Before I open the box, I first want to show this beautiful work of art on the box. Beautiful front view of the car, which is really nice. Well, there are Italian curbs there too. It features the McLaren logo, the Spark logo and the McLaren MCL35M brand name. The front of the box has the front of the car, and the back of the box has the back of the car. This is from the top view, the top and the back of the car have the same thing but then the back of the car. But again, the same logo. Well, this is seen from the side. The silhouette of the car is nice. Know what you will get. The other side is actually copying the same thing as the other side.
Let's open this thing up. Open it from the side and another flap rises and you're always greeted by this… the smell of fresh books, I'd describe it. And push gently, but forcefully. Put that aside and be greeted by Styrofoam. Get the tape off [some more ASMR voice] Now is the crunch time. Well, I'll let you guys show it first. Wow. Ah, the smell. It really has a unique smell and I really can't describe it. I really, really, really love the LANDO NORRIS helmet, the way he jumped out of the car. Let's get this out of the way. Is there something down there? I don't think so. Wait, there's something down there. From the outside, this is a water slide sticker of the VELO brand. I don't know what that is so we have a couple of sponsors here. In fact, when you look at the car, it doesn't seem to be really attracted to sponsors. But when you look closely, you actually see quite a few sponsors on the nose, esp.
On the side we have the COCA COLA logo which I really like. And then we have some other flags here. CISCO, ARROW, SPLUNK and GULF. If you look from the top view, you can also see this angled floor. It's a mandated change because in 2020 their floor was rectangular, but now it's more of an inward sloping rather than rectangular. Front wing, very nice carbon fiber texture, number four. I think there, uh, the driver number is really well represented on the vehicle.
There, we have 360 cameras and also some antennas, and the driver itself and the pictures there look perfect in my opinion. You can see the details of his clothes very well. If you look at this whole SIDEPOD area you can see a lot, a lot, a lot of what seems to be tape or something. I do not know what it was. I know they fill the car's seams with some kind of heli tape to make it more aerodynamic. Maybe it's some small, um, compensation. They did it after qualifying. There, we have these side mirrors, also carbon fiber. What I really like is, man.
Check out those sponsors below. Take another look at the T-CAM. I really like that color, and that yellow color really goes with the helmet. The tires above are soft, and the tires are actually made of rubber material. And they make them look a little bit weathered, like they're actually racing, which is nice. Moving to the back, we have a spoiler or rear wing, so to speak. There is also the beautiful DARKTRACE logo on it. I think what really sets McLaren apart is the HUSKI logo on the back of them.
Husky Chocolate. One difference is that, unlike their car last year, they switched to a Mercedes engine. So the whole car is a bit longer overall to finish the Mercedes engine in there. Wow. If you look at this detail at the back, what is the benefit of the exhaust pipe and SPARK. It actually comes with a nice bottom plate. This baseboard basically says. ["McLaren MCL35M finishes 3rd at 2021 Emilia-Romagna". ] If you can't tell from the helmet, the driver is Lando Norris. Well, just for fun. I wanted to compare this car to my other 2021 car and I basically did another review on it, which is the (Red Bull) RB16B.
If I look at these two cars, one trend that the RED BULL team started was the matte paint job. So it's basically a… not really a norm, but most teams have glossy paint jobs. McLaren also got a matte paint, which really stands out from the PAPAYA ORANGE above. So I have to switch to the top camera. But if you look from the top, you can see how wide the red and blue are in this area. And it almost becomes a bottleneck, and this McLaren is so thin here. SIDEPODS has almost no thickness. I think because of that, the car looks longer. All right. So this is basically a modern McLaren. And now is also the time to bring out the classics, which I have here.
This is the 1988 McLaren MP4/4 champion car of AYRTON SENNA. So it's basically a difference, uh, almost 40 years. And you can see how long the car has become over the years. See how long the 2021 car gets. Actually, when I see them side by side here, the LANDO has one thing in common with the SENNA, the helmet design jumps out of the car so we have it, the McLaren MCL35M. I think it's a great addition to the collection But yeah, I think this whole model, I mean, uh, salute to you… Again, SPARK, you made a wonderful model. If you're on the verge of getting this model, don't just because this model is really going to pop on your shelf. If you want to see more comments like this, please like this video and subscribe to the channel. A review like this, I mean, like the (RED BULL) RB16B I reviewed earlier. And I plan to do more reviews.
Ugh, so please everyone support your channel, it will be much appreciated. That way, I can make a video for you guys, because you guys seem to love this type of comment. Uh, so thank you all again for watching, and, uh, see you all in the next video. Thank you very much..
