3D printed extension kit FINALLY installed | New R34 aftermarket car parts

What's up guys in today's video I’ll be working on finishing up
the rear end of the r34. First I’ll be doing the
side skirt extensions, rear bumper extensions
as well as the rear over fenders. As usual a ton of sanding,
shaping and painting. Let me walk you through. First off I was finishing the
side skirt extension prototypes. That meant making a second one as well as multiple coats of epoxy and sanding them
perfectly flat, the works. It went on for days
with all the curing times and sanding them back down. But luckily I had help every now
and then which sped things up. My sis has been helping me a lot
in the last couple of weeks. In the background I’ve
been trying to figure out how I’d like to start making
the molds for parts like these but it turns out it ain't
as easy as I expected. I’ll get into that more in depth in a bit. All right let's go see how this looks. My brother in law is working
outside at the moment it might be a bit loud. So these came out nice.

They ain't perfect but they
will do as proof of concept and will hold up nicely on my car. In the background
as you could hear we're still working
on building the yard. We're chipping away
at the concrete daily and getting done
as much as we can so we'll have a nice
space quite soon. I’ll update you on that as well as we go. In one of the previous videos I showed you how I went
about making my own design for the rear bumper extensions. If you want to check that out feel free to check the cards
or the description below. I made new ones again
and it's the same process: print them in three parts,
glue them together with epoxy and do the same thing I’ve done
for the side skirt extensions. For these I adjusted the
design to a bit more aggressive as well as align a bit
better with the fender lines.

I think they look incredible now and will go perfectly with the sides. Oh it started raining
I’m going to take a break. You see on days like these
sh*t just gets to me sometimes. After having left the company we were supposed to
travel around the world and do some amazing stuff but instead I’m sitting here in
the garage having refreshments. And it's just raining… Oh well back to work.

As far as the rear overfenders go after endless shaping and reshaping I’m starting to like
where they are right now. Truth be told for
now they will perfectly do as you will see quite soon but if I really decide to
make molds for these I want to go the extra mile
and get them picture perfect. I don't feel I’m quite there yet but that's an issue for another time. Right now they're getting fresh
lick of paint and go up again. The install was pretty straightforward. I bolted up the
side skirt extensions properly but the rears are
clamped on for now. In the coming weeks I’ll add double-sided tape
and a silicone seam to tie things up. I was going to give you
some nice shots next but the girls said they'd give
the car a good wash instead.

I accepted Came out nice didn't it. I’m really happy how it came out but let's go talk about
what's next for a moment. So what's next: First what I need to do now is figuring out how I want to
make the molds for these parts. I’ve been considering going
straight for 3d printed molds but then I’ve run into the same
issues as I’m facing right now. If I were to make molds directly from
these parts, they look in good shape but truth is there is are
couple of spots here and there where it's off a
couple of millimeters.

That is due to the fact
that these are made, especially the side skirt extensions, from 12 individual parts
that are just glued together and keeping them 100 %
straight is really really hard. If I really want to start pulling
carbon parts from a mold like this I want them all to be
absolutely flawless. That means I’m currently looking into
a bit more professional way of making these molds. I want to try and have
the shape cut via CNC into a hard foam block
but for that to work out I’m gonna have to
figure out some logistics. I’ll keep you in the loop.

Moving on the R34 just needs some
more buttoning up on the front end mainly adding meshes
to the front bumper as well as adding
a floor coat on both the fenders as well
as the front bumper. Because I’m not 100%
happy with the finish yet. And lastly I’ll be starting to work
on the Supra as well soon. My brother has currently his
hands full with work and family so I’ll be taking care
of the car for him. First thing I’ll attempt is forge
carbon skinning the stock bonnet. For science obviously. Also we just broke the
1.000 subscriber mark and I want to say thank you to those that have been
showing support so early on. I really appreciate you and I hope
you will be around for a long time. Btw, pictures of the
extension kit are on my Instagram. Anyway as you can see
there's plenty of stuff coming up and if you haven't yet make sure
to subscribe so you don't miss it. I’ll catch you in the next one.

Bye.
