Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4 In-Depth Review | The ideal compact SUV?

hello everyone and welcome to the peugeot 3008.
yes it's another suv and yes this version has   been on sale since 2016 but there's not a hint
of ageing on its strike and exterior or super   contemporary cabin the 3008 is certainly growing
old gracefully but that doesn't mean there's   any less rivals fighting for the same piece
of car buying turf there's the kia sportage   nissan qashqai and say it attacker the first two
having recently been updated with brand new models   so has the 3008 got the substance to back up its
eye-catching looks and should you consider buying   one over similarly priced rivals i'm hope ellen
and this is another parker's cars review before   we get started don't forget to click subscribe
and press that little bell icon as well so you   get a notification every single time we post a
new video you want to be up to speed don't you at the time of filming the peugeot is available
with no less than four engine choices ranging   from a 130 horsepower 1.5 liter diesel to a 300
horsepower plug-in hybrid petrol now i alluded   to it earlier but this peugeot cabin is a bit of
a show stopper especially in top gt premium spec not only is the design fresh and eye-catching but
there's also plenty of premium feeling materials   on offer including dark lime wood and red
nappa leather for the seats peugeot uses   this design language in all of its models but
there's no denying it works exceptionally well   in the 3008 from the piano style switches on the
center console to the luxurious feeling gear lever   and funky ambient lighting it's streets ahead
of more mundane rivals the central infotainment   screen is eight inches as standard and controlled
via touch however most trim levels get a larger 10   inch screen with most of the extra space being
dedicated to on-screen temperature controls   as usual we'd rather these be physical dials
and switches but at least this layout means you   don't have to dive through all the menus just to
warm the car up the software itself is passable   but the menus can sometimes feel
a little confusing to navigate   and the touchscreen responses are sluggish there's
five available trim levels in the 3008 so make   sure you look through the brochure or configurator
carefully before picking the one that's best for   you all models get standard equipment such as a
reversing camera electric folding door mirrors   17-inch alloys and climate control but we
definitely recommend upgrading to at least a   lure spec you get far more kit safety features and
visual presence for only a small increase in price   one thing you should definitely be made aware of
if you're thinking about buying the 3008 is the   unusual driving position it's all centered around
where the steering wheel is and the dash display   or i cockpit as peugeot calls it as you can see
it's mounted lower than on many cars which could   mean that some drivers find their view of crucial
instruments is blocked most people don't have an   issue with it but the idea of looking at the dials
above the steering wheel rather than through it   is unusual the upside being that when you're
on a long journey you don't have to hold   your arms as high and it's less tiring the i
cockpit itself has a slick range of graphics   but what we have noticed is it attracts glare from
the sun especially on pre-2020 facelift models   aside from a pokey glove box storage space
up front is strong you've got two cup holders   a tray for your phone and sizeable door pockets
what's more i really like the split center armrest   easy to open while on the move and the sheer
amount of storage space it's hiding underneath   dive into it it's very useful entry into the back
seats is really easy thanks to wide opening doors   perfect for loading a child seat in once
you're back here passenger space is pretty good   but not as generous as say a skoda carrock that's
especially the case if you go for the panoramic   sunroof yes it lets a lot of glorious light in
but the drawback is a greatly reduced headroom   all 3008 get rear door pockets and map
pockets on front seat backs but if you want   usb sockets you will need to go for the gt trim
or above regular petrol and diesel 3008 models   get a well-proportioned 520 litre boot with an
adjustable height floor that in its lowest setting   increases space by 71 litres however if you have a
hybrid model like this one the floor is fixed and   boot space shrinks to 395 liters also note that
the seats fold down in a 60 40 split rather than   the more flexible 40 20 40 arrangement here at
parker's cars we've developed a quick usability   test to check all of our motors and it's called
hopes car olympics my name is obviously hope and   you'll know that if you're already subscribed
so against the clock i've got to fold down the   rear seats so they're flat tuning the radio to
absolute fm our favorite and i've also got to   set the sat nav to take me to buckingham palace
but how quickly can i do it in the peugeot 3008 we're going to the rear first lever whoa springy
springs and that was very energetic so be careful   with that might knock you out next one again
with the spring they're flat shut that in the   passenger seat to save some time squish in there
right so we have to use the piano keys and that's   why it's a little bit confusing i mentioned that
earlier so we have to go into navigation first   search it's weird from this angle because the
infotainment system is pointing directly over   buckingham palace it's not liking my speed come
on victoria london road i think okay calculating still still calculating there we go
thank you very much now we're going   to go on the other piano key for music
go on to list scroll all the way up   absolutely which one is it
absolute radio here's your proof bit emotional bit emotional i think   that was the fastest one i have done yet that
was so easy i know we mentioned earlier on about   the menus being quite complicated but once you
get used to using these piano keys to get around   it does make it really easy the doors made
the folding down on the seats easier as well   so all in all a very fun hopes car olympics
now let's see what this is like to drive now you know me i'm a lady of the people but
on this occasion the car i'm driving is the   most powerful and the most expensive 3008 on
sale it's the 1.6 litre petrol engine with two   electric motors one on the front axle and one on
the back that means all-wheel drive capability   and a combined output of 300 horsepower enough to
get this sensible family suv from 0 to 62 miles   per hour in just 5.9 seconds it really does take
you by surprise how much speed it's got okay so   it's still not what you'd call exciting even in
the sportiest drive mode but it does have plenty   of real world performance which often comes in
handy what's more all hybrid models get the smooth   eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard the most
useful part of the hybrid powertrain however is   the all-electric range the hybrid 4 can do up to
40 all-electric miles on a single charge meaning   you needn't burn any fuel on short journeys it
has the potential to be very cost effective but   just remember that if you run the battery down and
don't replenish it your fuel consumption figures   will skyrocket with the optional 7.4 kilowatt
charger juicing the battery up from zero to 100   takes around 45 minutes on the handling front
it has to be said the significant amount of   extra weight from the hybrid technology does blunt
the 3008 agility models with the smallest petrol   engines are certainly the sprightliest to drive
however since the 3008 was never a sports car in   the first place the extra frumpiness of the hybrid
versions isn't too much of an issue what's more   important is the overall comfort levels and that's
something the 3008 does better than a lot of cars   in this segment ride comfort is cushioned and
refined most of the time and the hybrid powertrain   means the engine noise is kept to a minimum
fortunately i can't say the same for diesel   models as they are noticeably louder finally
visibility out is good for an suv and because   the 3008 is narrower than many of its rivals
it's fairly easy to drive in and around town so if you've liked what you've seen today and are
now considering treating yourself to a peugeot   3008 here's a list of my top versions that may
suit your requirements because i'm very helpful   so if you want the cheapest version of the
3008 you'll need to go for the active premium   1.2 puretech 130.

If you are a company car
user we've spoken about how great this car is   for people like you but i would go for the
hybrid version more specifically hybrid four   not only is it nice to drive and very quick
but it's also in a lower bic bracket which   means it's cheaper to run just make sure
that your fleet manager approves it first   finally if you want the performance model i
would go for the hybrid 4 again which is called   the gt hybrid 4 300 e8 the peugeot 3008 backs
up its bold design strategy with a comfortable   high quality suv package that's packed with tech
and offers a diverse array of available engines   it may be getting on a little now but you honestly
wouldn't know it the 3008 downsides are few and   far between and if you are considering getting
a family suv then this has to be on your list   having said that my money isn't on this hybrid
version yes it's quick and works well for company   car drivers but at 47 000 pounds it's an awful lot
of money for private buyers therefore i reckon a   gt spec car with the 130 horsepower petrol engine
is where you'll get the best bang for your buck you
