Installing Underbody Light Upgrade For Mazda B2000 B2200 | Part 2 Flake Garage

What's going on guys welcome back to the
channel we are moving right on to part two   of three on my lighting upgrade series this
is what we're doing on the Mazda B2000 so i'm   just gonna kick it basically right off where we
left from the last video i'm just gonna explain   right now just a little bit of the intro so then
you know exactly where we took off basically now   we're moving to doing the outside of the truck so
we're going to basically replace all the lights   that we had done already on my first video on the
lighting update i'm sorry upgrade and then we're   going to swap all of those into the new lights
and the first thing with this here is if i show   you here really quick if you're looking down here
through the bottom you can see some cables right   here those are the cables that are running from
the lights so if we go underneath of the truck   you can see the lights right there basically
all we did was we have a bracket that goes   from here to that side we took
the old lights off and we just   glued the new lights in place we're gonna use the
light that was in here into the grille and then   another spot but that's exactly what we're going
to pick off right here on the next clip so let's   do it so now that we have basically the front done
and set up with the new led light that i'm putting   in there i have my old one here to the side we're
going to leave that like that because we're going   to reuse that here in a second so in the meantime
i'm going to go ahead and move to the sides of the   truck and to do that i'm going to remove my fender
liner like i had before because my cables are   right behind it that way they're protected from
the elements and basically i am going to unhook   the way that i had it here set up the reason why
is because i when i first did this i did a little   bit different than when i showed you guys on the
video here on the hard body on the hard body we   basically drilled two little uh holes on the side
put some l-shaped brackets and then held the light   in place and that worked out perfect so that was
a lot better and a lot easier than the way that i   had to set up here so basically what i'm going
to do right now is i'm going to come down here   and remove my current led lights out of there
take it out i already disconnected it here so that   way it's ready to come off completely and then
we're going to basically mount some new l-shapes   and the new light into a new aluminum flat which i
do have over here so you can see it there so let's   do that and that way we can run our wiring where
it needs to go and they'll be out of the way so   let's do it check it out so now we have removed
the side one here and i can tell you exactly why   i basically over complicated this a little bit
and made it harder for myself the first time i   installed it and why we're going to move into this
other method just because it's going to be a lot   easier so first of all when i did this initially
for some reason i ended up getting three foot long   flats which meant that we still had a big chunk
of this led over here hanging and i remember   exactly why the reason was because the three foot
long aluminum flat here fit basically perfect   between the door and the back of it uh and then
there were some uh basically supports there that i   was planning to drill into and that's where i was
gonna hang this from because i wanted to be all   out of sight i didn't want anything visible on
there no bolts or anything like that so that's   the reason why i went with that uh so then
to fix that problem here on the back of it   basically kind of cut another little piece
that i already had and i put it back here   but then this piece was held in place with this
you remember this same things i use on the inside   for uh those little pieces i put in there
these are are the leftover parts from the   power lock kit so basically i put this
here in the middle and this is how i   held in place inside of it and then i bend
this back so it was out of sight on the back   so that way you couldn't see it anything back here
but it was still hanging and i didn't have to do   anything with the bed i didn't have to tap into
anything or drill into anything it was just kind   of hanging with a zip tie holding it in place so
i mean it worked great the light works great still   no issues there but we're just going to upgrade to
the other system which is going to be a lot easier   uh for me to put on so now we're going to
get our new light prepped and then get our   new flat also prep and drill two holes here on
the side and put it in place let's do it it is   now a new day and we have here our light and
let me put it side by side so you guys can see   the upgraded lights are also now bigger as you
can see we have our old light right here and look   at that it ends right there and we still have
a big chunk on both sides that kind of sticks   out the reason why these ones are four foot long
this ones are five feet long and there are also   let me zoom in here they look almost exactly the
same but look at that you see the leds they're   a little bit more clumped together a little bit
closer these ones are a little bit more separated   but you also have this chips in here which is the
reason why this lights will do a lot more stuff   than this one's over here now they're both good
light if you want to just have underbody lights   so now let me go a little bit into one of
the cons of this new light because they are   bigger than the old ones it is going to stick out
a little bit more on each side so we're going to   plant that a little bit better we have to center
this new flat i still have a four foot long flat   so we are going to have about six inches on each
side of hanging which i'm gonna get to it uh once   i start putting them on we're gonna basically do
a similar setup like we did with the old one where   we kind of have a little bit a little stick kind
of uh hanging out on each side most likely we're   gonna use this ones from our power lock kit and
tying them up and get them out of sight with some   zip ties it's worked well under me for me in the
past so i think that's how i'm going to tackle   this issue but let me get into the con of this
new light one of the big big cons of this light   is that there are no connections in between the
lights the only connection that you make from   power uh basically from where you power up
the light until anywhere else it's gonna be   on the rear the rear sorry my hand tripped
it up here the rear does have a connection   and that's for the rear lights does come separate
uh which is nice but basically your side lights   and your front lights are all out of the hardness
itself and i know there's a wiring mess here but   let me talk to you basically on this so this is
where the hardness begins this is where your power   and ground are going to go you have this big chunk
on cable that is one thing i'll give to the slices   they do have a lot of cable so there are a lot
of routing options for you here there's a lot of wire that you can play with depending the location
of your power and ground and where you're going to   put it but basically we have our power and ground
here then it runs into this little box here we   have the qr code that you'll use to download
the app that you're going to use for this light   then again more cable then we have our splitter
here but again this does not disconnect it's all   one wire piece together here and then from
here we have four wires that basically split   into two front and two sides so what is the
challenge with this the challenge is going   to be that now because we have one solid
piece or a piece of wire basically from   uh the power all the way to the side lights
and the front lights that means you have to   basically route this the way it's going to go
in the truck from the beginning you cannot start   putting stuff up and then uh try to route it later
because there's nowhere to disconnect and route it   so the way i'm doing it right now is i you guys
already saw me already put my front two which is   fine i have no issues there and then we have the
front two basically coming from down here let me   see if i can get in here so it's kind of hard to
see but there you go you see two cables right here   those two cables are the ones that go into the
front section and they are coming along there   into this side now on this side let me see if
i can zoom in you see this hole right there   that's where my two cables are going into and
we came over here on this side and basically   remove our plastic fender liner luckily my
plastic fender liners are in great shape so   we removed that out of the way and we're routing
everything kind of like what you would do if you   were doing a wire tuck for your engine bay
we are routing everything underneath this   fender so it's out of sight so we have our
two front lights they're coming in here   they're running along the side here and then
they're coming out over here and then they're   going to go inside of the truck that's where
this cable is going to go now everything else   is gonna run off that side towards the side and
back and for my driver's side right now is we're   gonna run a similar setup like we have with my
other light this little cable is just gonna run   through the top here go into that hole and go into
the side and run the other lights over there so   basically the tedious part is just going to
be riding on this cables we are good here   i'm going to route this over here to the front
and make that cable go inside of the truck   because we wanna we want it to connect to our
switch panel that we're putting in and then once   everything is good our power wire that i'm running
to the battery same deal we're gonna run it over   here and we're gonna have it connect over here
sorry for the airplane noise guys uh so once it's   all done everything's good tighten up we're gonna
make sure we slip tight any excess wire in there   make sure it's out of the way make sure it's
covered by our fender liner so that way no water   is getting in there and then we're gonna put it
out of the way and it's gonna be nice and clean   so let's keep going with this and i'll
show you guys how it looks towards the end   alright guys so if you haven't noticed on this
video we don't really have sped up clips of   of us working and putting this together um but i'm
curious to know what do you guys think you guys   like seeing those kind of sped up 10 15 second
clips of us just kind of doing all the work over   here and then me coming in here and telling you
what's going on or do you like this format where   i'm just basically cutting to the next session
telling you what what i did what's going on what's   the next step and keep going like that i want to
hear from you guys let me know in the comments   what you guys think which one you like the best uh
because uh our gopro broke so that's the reason we   don't have those clips right now but let me know
if it makes sense for me to invest in another one   if you guys want to see those clips let me know
in the comments guys thank you let's move on to   the next one so we are back now over here and now
that after a couple runs to the hardware store   and picking up the stuff that i needed to finish
this i'm going to show you guys how the cable is   basically routed so again the cable is back here
through uh that hole i showed you into the fender   and then look at all this cable this is all the
excess cable i'm not gonna be using right now   basically once we have our side light here hooked
up that's going to power our rear ones so we have   no more cable needed there and then that's
also accounting for all the extra cable that   came with the harness so what we're going to do
with this is we're basically going to come in here   sip tie it there's a let's see if i can get my
hand in here so that is where we're going to hook   up our cable that is going to be behind the fender
liner out of the way out of the water and then   it's going to be just tie a zip tie in there and
that's going to hold it in place and we're going   to have no issues there and from there our cable
is going to run down here into our side and here   we've been prepping the side of the truck ready to
put on so here we have the four foot flat aluminum   flat kind of like i used before on brian's hard
body and then we have our i have already basically   done my l shapes these are three quarter inch
l shapes that's what you need for this drug the   only downside of the mazdas is that basically
on this lip as you can see there we have my uh   new bolt but on the edge on both sides basically
you have a lip obviously coming out here to the   door but on the back of this there's also a small
lip that we have to deal with so it's not as   simple as it was on brian's where we just put the
l shape when you were good i basically had to get   let me see if i can get down here
a little bit so i had to get um   inch longs they're basically number 10 24 by one
inch so number 10 24 by one inch if you can see   there this one inch long uh bolts basically have
enough space out here i added a couple extra nuts   and stuff and spacers in between so it would stick
out the l-shape far enough away from that lip   that we can put our flat without an issue again i
don't want the lights to show through the bottom   i want it to be just a nice clean uh light coming
from it here's our other bolt so then this is the   only way that i got it to work right now so this
is a one inch long uh bolt then there's a bunch   of spacers basically nuts and spacers here enough
to or i can then put my l shape and be far enough   from the lip to have it be good so now that that's
set up we are now going to be basically over here   on the flat i drilled my holes everything is
lined up i already tested it and everything   we are going to probably mount this and then
see how much forward the light needs to have and   then how much back the light needs to have and
then we're going to zip tie it and again using   these things from the power locks we
are basically just going to put it here   and with the same glue from the light we're
going to kind of glue it down and then zip tie it   and that should be enough for it to like
hang and be out of the way so it might be   kind of hard to picture right now but trust
me once it's on there we're not gonna see it   we're only part we're gonna see it it's just gonna
be right here we're gonna see a little bit of it   through that crack but hopefully once we pull it
with the zip ties it's only gonna be a minimum   minimum thing that we're gonna see there so
let's continue on and then i'll show you guys
