What’s New: Kyosho Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat 1/10 ReadySet

Today we're gonna check out a brand new
vehicle that's soon to be available it's the Kyosho Dodge Challenger SRT
Hellcat. We're gonna take it out of the box look under the hood and then we'll
go outside and drive it. Here is the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat this is a
1/10 scale 4WD on-road car. that is spect with brushed electronics.
It's actually a platform we've seen before a few weeks ago we reviewed the
Rage 2.0 it was a 4WD off-road vehicle based off the phaser MK
2 chassis the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is based off that same platform
but just been reconfigured for on-road but before we talk too much about the
chassis the main highlight behind this car is this fantastic scale officially
licensed body in this officially licensed color now dodge created this
crazy plum purple back in 1970 and it's still available and you can still get it
on the real Dodge SRT Hellcat now going over this body we have quite a bit of
scale accents and details we have this big lip down here on the bottom we have
lots of decals for our grille and our SRT branding our lights here are decals
but internally in the body there's light buckets so you can optionally add LEDs
down the road. Now we have a flat black here on our hood there's a few more
decals that resemble vents all of our windows have black trim going around
kind of see it all of the windows are also tinted so it's a little harder to
see in there but there's black trim going all around the windows with
windshield wipers on the front but trim continues even on the side and back
windows our moonroof here is all blacked out we also have some plastic mirrors
with reflective decals inside we have door handles molded into the body back
here is our gas cap and then up top is like our fin/antenna you can kind of see that there it looks proper and then if we move to the back you can see
we have more decals for our lights our dual exhaust and our SRT branding there
in the license plate then above that there is this attached spoiler with
three screws in it it looks pretty darn snazzy this entire rear end here as well
as the spoiler is attached to the main lexan body so going under the hood you
can see this phaser MK 2 chassis is the same as the Rage 2.0 we reviewed a
little while ago it's a very balanced and simple design there's fewer parts
used and it's very clean internally now we have a center shaft powering our 4WD we have fluid filled shocks on all four corners it's independent
suspension there is a grease filled differential in the rear and the front
as well as a slipper clutch inside the wheels there you can see there is some
discs there chrome discs with red calipers the model includes out of the
box discs that provide an offset for a hundred and ninety millimeter body or a
200 millimeter body you just changed the disc it's a little bit more tough to see
but the dog bones in this model have been oversized for extra support and
durability oh and those discs are twelve millimeter hexes back there to
accommodate a variety of wheels our battery tray here is the same as on the
Rage 2.0 it uses a single single velcro strap which will accommodate a variety
of different sized lipos so it's very convenient our tub chassis is also
similar we have this nice spline that's built in to add a lot of rigidity to the
chassis it does not torque twist much there
there's minimal flex and then in the entire kit you'll find full ball
bearings as well as hex crews used throughout on this Ready Set
model now we haven't talked about the electronics though but the electronic
spec are brushed electronics identical to the Rage 2.0 if you're familiar with
that so we have a 550 can sized 14 turn brushed motor we have a 60 amp ESC
that's underneath this shroud that 60 amp ESC is compatible with a six or
seven cell NIMH as well as a two cell lipo and it actually comes configured to
be used with the two cell lipo if that isn't your intentions you need to make a
small jumper adjustment up here for our steering servo again that's protected
under the shroud it's the KS 202 w servo it's the same again seen in the Rage 2.0
and that is a waterproof servo the last piece of electronics to rat out this
model is the transmitter that is included it is the synchro Katie 231 P
plus it's a great transmitter with a lot of adjustability now this brings me to
what is needed for this model well you will need to supply for AA
batteries for this transmitter additionally the model requires a
battery so you'll have to supply that six or seven cell NIMH battery or a two
cell lipo and then lastly you'll need a battery charger to charge that battery
and the charger should have a t-style charge lead because that's the type of
connector that comes on the model okay I think it's time to talk about driving
the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat we put a few battery packs through it we drove
it in a couple of different situations and we even did a speed run with it so
first things we took it outside with a freshly charged pack we use this venom
2's five thousand milliamp battery and we went outside we drove it in the
parking lot right in front of AMain Hobbies and it was a lot of fun with
that five thousand milliamp pack we were able to put down about 16 minutes of
runtime pretty much wide open the car tracks straight especially well it
corners really well and even if you get it right you can even kind of
slide it it almost drifts just a little bit
it's very controllable drifting it around we use our Bushnell speed gun our
radar gun to get a speed reading and the car hit about 25 maybe 26 miles an hour
it was pretty peppy on 2's for a brushed model it was very impressive when we
were done driving it outside its driving characteristics just made me think maybe
this car could drift so we put some perfect specific drift tires on this
four-wheel-drive model and we brought it inside to the hallways here at AMain
Hobbies and we did some drifting up and down the hallways and it was a blast the
steering angle throw is an extreme like a proper drift car would be but with a
small tire change the car came to life in a new way and it was a blast to drive
and with this awesome paint scheme it was beautiful to look at.
