Kit review: Revell Mercedes-Benz G4 in 1/35 scale

Hi everybody! Today i will review the Revell
Mercedes-Benz G4 in 1/35 scale as promised. Actually it is only a reboxed ICM kit, but
this kit here is much more beneficial. It costs about 20€ compared to the ICM kit which costs 28-30€. I intended to buy the ICM kit for quite a while
already, but i never got round to do it. Other projects were more important for me. After i saw this beautiful model made by our fellow
Youtuber "qdc746a" i simply had to buy it. Another reason was the beneficial price of the kit.

i saved almost 10€, nothing to complain about. Let´s have a look inside the box. The instruction sheet, i´m wondering why they did not include the "Mercedes-Benz"
tag, i think this has something to do with copyright stuff. As always Revell gives you a little background history of the real vehicle. The introduction includes notes of safety and a legend to symbols. Paint chart, it refers to Revell paints only. Here
we have a diagram with all included sprues. Then the assembly starts, it begins with the engine block. As you can see the details will be great, it is almost
a shame to hide this beauty under an engine hood.

Here the main frame. I like how clearly the instructions are
with regard to the exact position of the parts. I don´t know how good the ICM instrucions are in
this case, but i assume it is good aswell. In my opinion Revell has pretty good instructions anyway. Here the rear suspension system, as you can see it is very complicated. There are plenty of notes that you should let it dry for a while
till you go on with the assembly. I´m sure this will be necessary. Otherwhise some parts might get out of place.

Everything is clearly arranged. Very good instructions, just as we expect it from Revell. As far as i can judge it the interior details look really convincing. All those tiny handles and cranks and god knows what else will be
pretty tedious to get in place, but the result will be rewarding. Here you can choose between an opened and closed version of
the engine hood, definately an option you should think about. There the chassis and the car body come together. Then the last interior details follow. There are three painting and marking versions, they are not really defined, The first one is simply called "Staff car of the field marshal".

According
to the paint chart this vehcile should be painted sand yellow. Maybe it is a car from Erwin Rommel, but
i´m not sure, i can only assume. The second one is called "Staff car of the field marshal of the Luftwaffe". I don´t know what this could be, maybe a
vehicle of Kesselring or Göring, i don´t know. It has a pretty cool pennant on the front of the car. The last one is called "Staff car of the commander-in-chief of the Wehrmacht". All versions are very vague, i don´t know what this is about.

Maybe this
is a car of Hitler as he was the commander-in-chief from 1941 onwards. Maybe it is supposed to show his car, maybe not. The decals are typical Revell: Excellent. Nothing to complain about, you can see the swastikas
are missing on the pennants, they are censored. This is especially relevant to the sale in Germany. I know that some people complained about the missing symbol on
my Mercedes-Benz 770K model but i don´t really care. I could try to draw them on my own with a thin pen
or don´t use it or i leave it as it is. This is always a difficult thing, i don´t mind
swastikas but other people don´t like it. Here the first sprue, it contains wheels and suspension parts. As you can see the parts are very filigree and no flash in sight, apart from
the sprue itself, but i don´t care as long as the parts are clean.

The leaf springs are nicely detailed, very good,
although it is not really visible later. Here some parts of the chassis and interior. The handles are very tiny, this kit is definately not recommended for beginners. A beautiful Mercedes engine. The folding top looks alright, the foldings could look a bit
more natural, but i think this part is still okay. Here are plenty of filigree parts aswell. You have to be very careful while removing these parts
in order to preserve them from damages or losing. I´m sure you are not able to find such small
parts if you lose them on the floor. Very nice. Here all parts of the car body. All those hinge-joints look great. The radiator grill looks good aswell, of course you
can improve it with some photo-etched parts. I think out of box it should look great aswell. You have to be extremely careful here, it is very easy to
damage this window frame while cutting it from the sprue.

Some bad looking spots on this part can also occure,
i had this problem with my earlier Mercedes model. The clear parts have no streaks at all, no flash in sight. Exemplary. As you have seen the kit has no flaws
at all, very filigree parts and complex. Not easy to assemble, you need a lot of patience. You have to be very careful to place the
parts correctly to avoid the useage of filler.

This can be fatal for a car model because you can´t hide
bad looking spots with mud pigments like on a tank. It is definately a big challenge for me to
build it, i´m looking forward to it. I hope you enjoyed this review, i promised "primativemodelling" that
i will do some more reviews of Revell kits. Next time you will see the Swedish Wasa. See you in
the next video and happy modelling, your Hamilkar Barkas.
