welcome to xxlrc and today we're doing a
unboxing of a really cool truck uh this just came out earlier this year and i finally got one
the moment i saw it i knew i had to get one um this is a replica of a truck that was featured
in one of my favorite movies of all time and when you go to rc four-wheel drive's website
it really doesn't make any mention of the movie but when you see the truck you know it's an exact
replica everything all the little details on it it looks just like the truck from the movie
so let me show you what we got on the bench right here is a rc four-wheel drive
trail finder two extra cab this is a 1987 toyota pickup truck and the really special thing
about this one is it is a exact replica of martin mcfly's truck from the movie back to the future
and i'm just super excited to get this thing out of the box and take a look at it and share it with
everybody so let's jump right into the unboxing right let's crack this baby open
i've been waiting all day to do this nothing quite like a new
rc rig just looking at the the artwork on the box here look at that that's awesome this is
officially licensed toyota body so this is gonna be really cool to the trash for you look at that thing got the little kc highlights on it roll bar
got the tube front bumper got the the black with the silver wheels this is really cool
the attention to detail is just awesome so crack open the box here oh it looks like it's in two pieces
here the smaller box is the chassis let's get that out first yep and i think the body must be in the other box i think i'm gonna like this this looks so good that uh leaf spring suspension in there nice goodyear wrangler tires are these
wranglers yeah they are really really cool now that's weird the uh
steering servo's actually not hooked up in there i wonder why they do it
like that interesting got the yoda axles very very nice stuff i really like rc
four wheel drive stuff really really scale i wouldn't say they're the best performing but they're definitely the most scale trucks out
there very very nice looks like we've got our instruction manual there's
some sticker sheet there and i noticed these rtr trucks that they have
they're like fully ready to run there's a little metal hydride battery in there there's uh double
a's for the remote there's even a charger i'm sure it takes a day to charge the battery but really
cool that they include all that stuff in their box you know very nice for for uh beginners out
there who may not have a charger and everything so they're like completely ready
to go everything's in the box all right we're just going to set the truck off to the side i'm going to grab the body out
of the box and check that out real quick looks like that's all taped up a little slice oh yeah look at that toyota on the on the
tailgate oh i don't know if you can see it or not get it out of there we'll get the plastic off the tailgate opens another really nice scale detail there well that body's got some heft to it that's
for sure it is a hard body it's not lexan definitely definitely pretty heavy and what's
in here looks like the front bumpers in here now i wonder where the uh that tube bumper
is let's see if it's in there somewhere a little bumper for the front this
thing is nice it's like a nice glossy painted finish there's little the lights
in the uh in the bumper looks like you can throw some leds in there of
course it doesn't come with any that's okay battery strap in there see what comes in this bag three thousand milliamp hour uh nickel
metal battery that'll just go in the pile of nickel metal batteries that
i have we've run lipos around here that's pretty standard anymore this is just the charger okay so
that thing's gonna take a long time i don't know how long that would take probably
at least a few hours to charge that battery so that'll go in the trash as well and
then that does come with different uh adapters for other countries if you happen to live in another part of the world
besides the us so that's cool that they have that well um really not sure where those bumper parts are this is this is so cool though
the hood opens up there's a little engine in there maybe that's as far as it goes but i don't know if you guys can see in there nice
little detailed engine nicely detailed interior very cool got the gray interior just like marty's
truck the roll bar on the back yeah that's metal very very nice as mentioned earlier
the tailgate does work very cool i don't know oh you know what an idiot
there's another box in here so that must be a transmitter what's in that box yep got your standard rc4 wheel drive
transmitter pretty much the same on all there um older rtr stuff got a lot of little uh settings
in here for the various trims and whatnot so it's not bad uh feels very cheap
very toy grade but it'll work this is what i was looking for okay so in the last box we've got the rear bumper which is metal very nice look at that got the tube bumper a little receiver in there
i guess you could throw a hitch in if you want and the last bag here we've got
the front bumper nice wrap around two bumper metal as well that was really cool i
was expecting plastic and all the little kc lights nice little detail there and then i guess there's uh these are all
the mounting brackets for the for the bumpers front and rear so i'll have to mount those
up see how this body goes on the chassis and then i will show you guys the final product all right well this is an rtr quote unquote
but there is a little bit of assembly as you saw on the unboxing the body
is separate from the chassis and then i'm at step seven here the first few steps is just
like you know putting batteries in the transmitter putting the battery on the chassis which those
straps are really long like the little rc four wheel drive low goes underneath the truck
maybe there's a different way to do that but uh now we're at the point where we
need to put the bumpers together all right so for this front bumper we need a couple of these pin screws a couple m3
by six and a couple m three by eight which i have right here line up ready to go and we'll
need this part and obviously the front bumper so i was just reading in the manual it says take
these two plastic pieces which this is how it came it says combine the two accessories together but
do not screw on the screws now this is exactly how it came out of the box you can see it's screwed
together so i thought well i mean maybe that's why they didn't want me screwed together because it
already is but when you go to step 7 it shows you you need to put screws in there there and there
through this piece so i guess i got to take the screws out that were in there from the factory not
entirely sure why but that's how it is sometimes maybe this was for another kit or something
um don't know so we're just gonna take these take these screws out that's where they're uh
their coarse thread screw too not a machine screw like the ones that it
shows in the uh in the book all right this gets screwed to there and then the bumper
screws into that so let me do that real quick the screws that they give you the ones that were
already in there that said not to use are the same length but they're countersunk in there
so there's no way those screws are gonna work not sure what to do here all right well uh i don't know the the
instructions are a little unclear here because it says use m3x6 for these but there's
no way a six millimeter is going to fit it it's just too thick but i did find this other
bag that has these longer coarse thread screws um that i think will fit in here so we're going to
give those a try because that's what was in there there was some shorter course thread screws yeah
that's going to work so i don't know manuals are but that's all part of the fun
of this hobby sometimes just figuring things out and making it
work so that's all attached on there i think that'll do pretty good so the way this
this just goes through those slots in the bumper fits up to there and then we'll put a couple
screws in there should probably throw some loctite on there since it is metal instructions
are important children uh this needs to go on there first because now uh got a little
clearance issue so let me pull this back off screw those in okay back to our regularly scheduled bring programming back up okay put our bumper back in there with the pre-loctited screw won't tighten her down all the way this time get the other one started first all right looks good everything's
how it's supposed to be so next thing is just uh fitting it on the truck it calls for a couple m three
by eight flat head screws all right so we got our bracket on there
and there's these little notch and this little notch that gonna fit right into
the frame there and then there's just a screw on each side it's just one
of these little flathead hex screws get in there you i'm just gonna turn this around it'll be better
for me not so much for you but you get the idea not that you could really see me
put the other screw in anyways but give you a little shot of that uh yeah there's just ah geez i don't even know if
you can see it but there's just just a little screw on either side goes right through the
frame rail into that that's nice and sturdy on there so we're ready to go with that so next
thing is oh i want to show you guys this uh so i i said there was no mention of back to the future
at all if you go on rc four-wheel drive's website nothing there but when i was getting out the
manual they got these stickers and you can see there's a uh what's that say back to the trails and there's uh what else is there there's
a out of time there's the statler toyota there's the uh delorean and uh i support
the pin heads which was marty's band there's also it's also a couple bumper stickers
in here which are pretty funny there's uh roads where we're going we don't need roads and then
there's a biftan and 24 stop electing butt heads so pretty funny stuff i guess that is their
ode to back to the future without really coming out and saying it so that is uh very cool
i like that little detail probably maybe put one of those stickers or one of the uh one of the
license plates on my truck when it's all done i think next step is just yeah putting together
the uh rear bumper which i'm sure will be just as fun as the front one hope they gave us
all the right screws for that this looks a little bit different because this piece i had to add this piece right here
is already on the chassis so i think all i got to do is put the bumper and this bracket
together slide that in and put the pins in pins and three by six instructions show to use
this top hole on here right into that yep where's my i already put it
back not done with you loctate almost there we go and this is gonna be super easy here way easier which hole are we supposed to go in there it
doesn't say i'm gonna assume we'll just go in right to there that's as far as we can go in with
it i guess if that's too far then we'll adjust it the smaller screwdriver for that crank them down good to go and we can see how this body fits on
here hopefully no adjustments needed oh yeah that fits good nice fit i think it looks
pretty good um you know one thing i wanted to show you is there's a little notch in there
it fits right over the frame rail cross member that kind of lines it up for you
but overall very nice fit i like it all right so body's on there fit is really good um i love rc four-wheel drive scale realism
like this is very very cool everything looks awesome very very scale the one thing
that i hate with these rigs is okay i get it they didn't want to use you know traditional
body posts with the pins um but what they do is there's i don't know if you can see right there
it's kind of hard to see on the black body but there's a a screw hole right there and right there
and there's two more on the other side so you actually screw the body down to the chassis which
is great i mean it's not going to come off but that's a real pain when you got to put a
battery under this thing i mean the battery goes right there so in order to change the
battery out you gotta undo those four screws so um i know some guys do like they put some pins in
there or something or you know maybe some velcro or something to to hold that um like my i have one
of the rc4 wheel drive blazers and i just didn't even put the screws in i just kind of pressure
fitted over those and off we go there's a couple pins like in the back part and that's enough
to to hold it on but this i'm not real sure what i'm going to do for this so for now i'm just
going to put the uh put the screws in it you know i don't know how long until i take this thing out
for a spin i i want to take it out right now but it's uh it's a little late so maybe tomorrow
maybe this weekend i don't know we'll see um but yeah i'm just going to button
this thing up all right so got this thing just double ch it looks like it's quite lined
up maybe it is let's see got it on there yep one screw see how tedious this would be of
course with with the trail truck like this i mean how many batteries are you going through don't
you know they you can get a good few hours out of a battery on a rig like this so maybe it's
maybe i'm just making a big deal out of nothing come on line up there you go but you know i just figure there's so many like
uh traxxas with their new bronco trx4 they have the clipless body system where the there's like
a a little clip up inside the wheel wells and the new axials have clips like
under the uh front rear bumpers and uh that's that's a pretty nice little system
because it's still you know pretty easy to to use but you don't have body posts
sticking out of the middle of the body so i do like that and i get what rc
four-wheel drive was going for here just this seems kind of outdated and uh i
think they need to change that maybe they'll you know the trail finder three was just announced
i don't know what kind of body mount systems they have on that so maybe that's something they'll do
i guess we'll see so man this thing looks so good they really do make a an awesome awesome
scale rig the paint is so shiny on it it's got a nice interior look inside there isn't that cool it looks like you're
looking right into a an old tacoma very cool even got the little toyota on the
windshield and back here got the sorry my my chair is creaking uh i got the toyota on
the on the tailgate too very very cool stuff and it looks like i'm looking in the um in the tail lights here it looks like there's
some holes there probably put some leds in there and i'm sure there's leds in
the uh in the front as well so all right guys well uh the last thing i got
to do and i'm not gonna do that right now is uh put together the um steering servo there's just
one screw that steering link i don't know why they didn't attach that maybe they didn't want to
risk uh damaging the servo and shipment i don't know another just kind of strange thing that
rc four-wheel drive did but uh just gonna put a screw in there and then uh pop my kc lights on
you know what i'm gonna go ahead and do that now i think they just kind of pop on there i'm and it
looks like you could put some leds in there too let's see how do these i think
they just pop in there maybe not oh yeah yep easy peasy like that really uh it's it's
all these little details that that really make a trail truck stand out oh come on there's some little uh flashings from the mold here from when they
molded the plastic they're kind of getting hung up that's fun yeah you know what i
think that mold might be a little a little messed up there
let's see if we can fix that might have to glue that one there we go all fixed i up if i can get the little little
ones with the uh smiley faces on it i'm sure rc four wheel drives uh
makes those two so look at that that looks good maybe this
weekend i can get out there and take this thing on the maiden voyage get some
dirt on the tires so but uh thanks for tuning in if this is your first time make sure
you subscribe and see you guys next time
